Getting injured at work can very quickly become a nightmare. You might feel as though your employer doesn’t care, your case manager does not care and you’re not sure how you will ever get better.
At Healthy Movements Physiotherapy we have dealt with a great deal of workers compensation patients, and we are here to support you and help you on the road to recovery. Whether you have a back injury, neck injury, shoulder injury or have injured yourself elsewhere we are here to help you with your physiotherapy needs and we are also here to help you with an empathetic ear.
We can also provide you with much needed education and advice about your postures and repetitive movements which you are doing in your job. We can provide you with ideas and suggestions that may help you reduce the strain that your everyday job is having on your body.
We can also provide advice on how to move more comfortably with less pain – for example – getting in/out of bed with reduced pain levels, standing up from a chair, putting on shoes, getting in/out of a car. Sometimes you may benefit from advice about a brace or splint that may give your body the support and rest it needs to allow pain to settle and the injury to start healing.
If your injury is severe enough, it may require an opinion from a Specialist Doctor – such as a hand surgeon, spinal surgeon or shoulder surgeon, depending on the area you have injured.
Having seen a specialist we can also be a sound-board about the advice you have been given and work together to proceed according to what your preferences area. Depending on your injury, an orthopaedic surgeon will commonly recommend a cortisone injection to the injured area to provide pain relief.
This can be a reasonably common pathway, and it may be worth trying if your physiotherapy treatment has not settled your pain and you remain uncomfortable, unable to function well and your sleep is disturbed.
We will also liase with your case manager, rehabilitation consultant, GP and Specialist and advocate and support you in your unique rehabilitation journey.
